The Fund
Amicus Fund is an innovative landlord risk mitigation program.
The fund seeks to partner with landlords willing to rent to households receiving a housing subsidy but facing significant challenges in finding permanent housing. Challenges may include poor credit or other issues often due to past illness, divorce, or other unforeseen situations.
Landlord Benefits
Amicus Fund’s landlord partners who are willing to rent to households who face such barriers may receive the following benefits:
- Financial Guarantee – Up to an aggregate of $5,000 for damages, missed rent and legal costs
- Expedited Payments – Payment of amount equal to a security deposit on an expedited basis
Relationships Matter
Amicus Fund believes that relationships are key to stable housing. Relationship benefits include:
- A dedicated point person who will attempt to resolve landlord/tenant issues, if any. The presence of a third party that knows the household is key to problem resolution and unique to this program.
- Households accepted are expected to complete upfront intensive financial literacy training including rental education and budgeting.
